“You won’t find our jars in the supermarkets,” says Derek. “We only sell our pickles and preserves through small independent retailers, food and country fairs and local markets. We can hardly keep on top of demand.

“All our chutneys, relishes and marmalades are made by hand in our own kitchen. We don’t use artificial colourings, flavourings or preservatives and where possible, we use locally sourced ingredients and traditional recipes alongside some of our own creations and innovations.”

“The piccalilli is perennially popular and once people have tasted that, they tend to give the more adventurous combinations a go: hot mango chutney is very popular with curry fans and our savoury marmalades like chilli or red onion are great with cheeses or pies.

“Our traditional marmalades won silver and bronze awards at the World Marmalade Festival at Dalemain House and we also produce a selection of Christmas Specials as the festive season approaches. These make great gifts as they have a long shelf life
and a selection of our pickles and chutneys can be ordered as a presentation pack.”
