We’re currently recruiting a Head Chef to join our team at Bowland Beer Hall, Holmes Mill.

The Beer Hall kitchen serves up “beer food” including pies, burgers and hot dogs to name a few, the perfect accompaniments to the many beers and cask ales on offer. We also operate a functions kitchen catering for parties, events and weddings for up to 150 guests.

About the Job

As Head Chef you’ll be responsible for operating and managing all activities in the kitchen, ensuring the highest standards of food and presentation. This is a busy kitchen environment that commands a strong leader with impeccable communication skills to ensure the team deliver great food and service consistently.

It is essential that you can work in a highly pressured but rewarding environment.

As Head Chef you’ll lead, inspire and motivate the team, ensuring they have the skills needed to maintain high standards of food and presentation and that the team are engaged and passionate about what they do. You’ll prepare staff rotas ensuring we have the right staff on site depending on business needs.

You’ll ensure that food hygiene practices are monitored and maintained to provide a safe and clean working environment. It is also essential that you can control costs and create competitive product pricing to deliver profitability, efficiency and guest satisfaction, without compromising on quality or availability.

You’ll be used to delivering high volume food in a fast paced restaurant without compromising on quality. You’ll also have:

  • Experience of managing a team – ensuring duties are clear, monitoring performance and providing feedback, motivating and leading the team, preparing rotas
  • Strong organisational skills
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to communicate at all levels
  • A strong customer service focus with the motivation to consistently drive high service levels
  • The ability to work in a high pressured environment
  • Results driven and motivated
  • Previous experience of financial management, i.e. forecasting and managing budgets, revenue, costs
  • Sound awareness of health and safety, food hygiene, COSH and HACCP legislation

What’s on offer

Salary – Circa £30k dependent on experience

Hours – Full Time between Monday to Sunday
